Cuevas is approximately northeast of Pass Christian and west-northwest of Long Beach Cuevas is part of the Gulfport-Biloxi metropolitan area. It is in the Harrison County School District and contains an elementary school, Pineville Elementary. Coast Episcopal School, a private school with grades below high school, is located on the eastern edge. Most of the populated area is located on a low ridge and avoided flooding during Hurricane Katrina. ==Settlement== Bertrand Labardens came to the area from France in 1851 and homesteaded 165 acres. He opened a post office and grocery store on the corner of Menge Ave. and Red Creek Road. In 1893, his son-in-law, U. A. Cuevas, took over the store.
